About the Poggio Ai Laghi Collection of Wines

A Story Rooted in History

Poggio ai Laghi supports historical research throughout the region in collaboration with local scholars. This work helped bring renewed attention to the story of Countess Ava and her seven Handmaids, inspiring a wine collection that honors their legacy.

Each of the eight wines is dedicated to one of these figures, transforming every bottle into a tribute to Tuscan heritage and an expression of culture, storytelling, and identity.

Eight Wines, Eight Works of Art

The 2025 collection brings this history to life through a collaboration with Sienese artist Maria Chiara Viviani, who created distinctive visual representations of the eight protagonists. Each label serves as an individual work of art, combining symbolism and artistic expression to tell a larger story. Together, the collection reflects the winery’s defining elements: wine, history, and art.

The Spirit of Tuscany

Beyond the vineyard, Poggio ai Laghi celebrates the traditions, landscapes, and flavors that define the Tuscan experience. From wine tastings and vineyard excursions to regional cuisine, cooking classes, and private events, the winery offers guests an opportunity to connect with the region through its wines and culture.

With experiences spanning Monteriggioni and San Gimignano, Poggio ai Laghi brings together a passion for winemaking, a deep appreciation for Italian heritage, and a commitment to hospitality.

For Poggio ai Laghi, every bottle tells a story. Each pour offers a glimpse into the land, history, and artistry that make Tuscan wine distinctive.

Where Wine, History, and Art Converge

Rooted in the history and culture of Tuscany, Poggio ai Laghi is a contemporary winemaking project built on the belief that wine is more than a product. It is an expression of excellence, a reflection of place, and a symbol of cultural identity.

At the heart of the winery’s philosophy is the feminine spirit, celebrated for its creativity, elegance, and ability to bring people together. This vision comes to life in the 2025 Poggio ai Laghi Wine Collection, an artistic tribute to Countess Ava and her seven Handmaids, whose stories embody the values of virtue and unity.

A Legacy of Winemaking Excellence

Located in Monteriggioni, in the heart of Tuscany, Poggio ai Laghi brings together traditional winemaking and contemporary innovation. Each wine reflects the character of the region’s terroir, balancing elegance and harmony while allowing the distinct qualities of each varietal to shine.

The collection spans Chianti Classico, Riserva, Supertuscans, and other distinctive expressions of Tuscan winemaking. Guiding this pursuit of quality is renowned winemaker Alessandro Cellai, whose career includes repeated recognition in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines of the World, more than 80 Tre Bicchieri awards from Gambero Rosso, and mentorship under legendary Italian winemaker Giacomo Tachis.
